Midterm season has arrived, and we proved once again that studying together is always better! Last Friday, October 23, Seminari A at the School of Engineering opened its doors from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM to host a new Study Session organized by the IEEE UAB x GDGoC UAB Student Branch.
We know how tough it can be to be stuck alone between four walls facing your books. That’s why we set out to transform the seminar room into the perfect space to focus, solve doubts together, and make the afternoon of studying much more enjoyable and productive.
☕ Brain Fuel: Coffee, Tea, and Cookies for Peak Performance
To keep concentration levels high during the more than three-hour session, we prepared a great lineup of totally free Brain Fuel: freshly brewed coffee, tea, cookies, and snacks to recharge between topics.
Between project deadlines, code debugging, and complex formulas, cups of coffee and short breaks became the ideal excuse to disconnect for a few minutes, stretch your legs, and share thoughts with fellow classmates.

📚 Productivity, Community, and… Team Growth!
With a completely flexible attendance format, the community response exceeded all our expectations: a total of 48 people dropped by throughout the afternoon! The atmosphere couldn’t have been better:
- Teamwork: Students from different years sharing tables, helping each other solve doubts, and sharing study resources.
- Focus Space: The perfect balance between a focused study environment and relaxed community moments.
- Total Flexibility: Freedom to drop in and out according to each attendee’s class schedule, making the most of their available time.
But the best part of the day wasn’t just in the notes. Thanks to the incredible atmosphere, many attendees took the leap and signed up to join our organizing team. A true milestone that makes the IEEE x GDGoC UAB family much bigger and gives us more hands than ever to build amazing things!

The Event in Numbers 📊
A historic afternoon of studying for our community:
- 48 attendees: A full house in Seminari A proving that studying together is way cooler.
- Team growth: We welcomed new members to the organizing team thanks to the day’s enthusiasm!
- 3.5 hours of maximum productivity: A steady flow of students performing at their best.
- Brain Fuel running at full capacity: Dozens of cups of coffee, tea, and cookies to keep up with the pace of midterms.

🚀 What’s Next?
Recharged and with a renewed organizing team larger than ever, we’re already preparing the upcoming activities for the semester: new hands-on workshops on hardware, software, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Native at the School of Engineering.
If you don’t want to miss out on a spot for upcoming events or want to join the organizing team, remember to register as a member completely for free and follow us on Instagram (@ieee_uab).
