We did it! This past Monday, June 8th, Seminar A (QC/0011) at the School of Engineering closed its doors after hosting our 10th and final event of the 2025-2026 academic year. Reaching the final stretch of the semester is always tough, but we at the IEEE UAB Student Branch x GDGoC UAB knew we couldn’t let you study alone in your rooms.
We set out to create the perfect space to focus, support each other, and celebrate the incredible community we’ve built over these months. And the response was simply spectacular.

🎧 Lofi, Coffee, and Maximum Focus
We transformed the classroom into the ultimate refuge against the stress of the second round of midterms. To keep energy levels high all afternoon, we prepared an arsenal of free coffee, tea, and cookies.
The vibe couldn’t have been better. While notes and laptops were practically smoking, the projector displayed a slideshow of photos looking back at all our events of the year, accompanied by relaxing study music. It was the perfect balance between productivity and camaraderie.

🖼️ The Wall of Fame and Swag Fever
To commemorate this 10th event, we covered an entire wall of the seminar room, creating our very own “Wall of Fame.” We put up posters of all the workshops and talks we organized this semester, and it became the official photocall where everyone grabbed photos with the team and friends to remember the year.
Plus, we brought the official merch for those who have supported us throughout the year. The result? We almost ran out of all the t-shirts we had left in stock! Seeing all of you wearing the club’s colors makes us incredibly proud.

The Numbers of the Day 📊
For exam season, you smashed our expectations once again:
- 26 attendees: An absolutely impressive number considering it was the last day of classes and everyone was busy cramming.
- 10 out of 10: We wrapped up the semester having completed our ambitious Roadmap 100%.
- Stock on the edge: You almost left us with absolutely no t-shirts or cookies (just as it should be!).

⏪ A Look Back: Our Incredible 2025-2026
Seeing the Wall of Fame made us nostalgic. In just one semester, we’ve built something massive. Looking back, this was our journey over the last 9 events leading up to the grand finale:
- Launch and n8n: We launched the mission by automating workflows and presenting our Roadmap.
- Self-Hosting & Huge News: We set up our own cloud and announced our official alliance as a Google Developer Group on Campus (GDGoC).
- Game Day: We teamed up with CRUAB to destroy pizzas, play cards, and compete on the Wii.
- MEMEnginy with Joan León: We brought web performance and AI to the major engineering fair.
- First Study Sprint: Our official pilot to survive the first round of midterms with coffee and community.
- Soldering at the OpenLab: We made sparks fly (literally) and brought PCBs to life with our own hands.
- UX in WordPress: We learned from JuanKa Díaz and Nora Ferreirós to look after the “forgotten user” and announced our new swag.
- AI Agents with Google ADK: Fabrício Carraro (BSC) taught us how to program RAG systems and we gave out the first t-shirts.
- Cloud and Infrastructure: Viktor Farcic blew our minds by automating the cloud with AI and Kubernetes.

👋 See you next time!
Thank you all for making this semester so incredible and giving it such a special ending ❤️
This club would be nothing without your eagerness to learn, get your hands dirty, and share knowledge. Now, it’s time for one last push to crush finals week. Rest up this summer, recharge your batteries, and get ready, because we’re already cooking up new tech madness.
We hope to see you all next year!!!
